LOWER MILFORD TOWNSHIP LEHIGH COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA BOARD OF SUPERVISORS - WORKSHOP MEETING WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 2007
MINUTES
PRESENT: Richard D. Harris, Chairman; Arland H. Schantz, Vice-Chairman; Donna L. Wright, Supervisor; Ellen Koplin, Township Manager; John Dondero, Police Chief and approximately 17 members of the audience.
– Chairman Harris called the meeting to order at approximately 7:31 pm.
– The Festival Policy was read by Harris and discussion followed concerning politicking at the festival. Further discussion will take place.
– Harris read Cowan Associates’ inspection letter report and recommendation dated 4/27/07 and the repair/replacement recommendation letter of 5/9/07 concerning the Scout Road bridge which was recently closed. Ann Frey questioned the need for a two lane bridge since the road is not that wide. It was explained that if the bridge is replaced rather than repaired, it would need to meet PennDOT width requirements.
– Schantz distributed advertisement brochures from Keystone Bio-Diesel. Bio-Diesel fuel use for township equipment was discussed with its pros and cons. It costs more but produces higher miles per gallon. It was decided to locate a supplier for more information. Wright suggested a supplier set up at the Fall Festival to inform local farmers.
– Dirt & Gravel Road Discussion took place. It was suggested that Public Works Director Richard Kinsey give a long term plan for Lower Milford roads.
– Harris announced the following: § Lower Milford Veterans Memorial Dedication on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 2 pm § Road Material and In-Place Bid Contracts will be awarded at the 5/17 Meeting § 1979 R-Model Mack was Re-Advertised with $6,000 Minimum Bid
– Resident Lowell Linde announced the property of Richard Stevens is up for sale, 215 acres for 7.9 million dollars. Wright stated there is another 63 acre parcel for sale at Dillingersville Road and Limeport Pike.
– Resident asked the reason Service Electric was working in their neighborhood. Harris stated they are installing fiber optics which is the prelude to high speed internet. Ann Frey stated if anyone wishes to sign up for Verizon DSL they can but from Hosensack down Kings Highway and down Janes Lane there is no DSL service.
– Harris adjourned the meeting at 8:48 pm.
